Java Foods currently participates in the Business Linkages Programme (BLP), which is one of the 4 components of Private Enterprise Programme Zambia, a UK-Aid (DFID) funded programme.
BLP seeks to create and strengthen sustainable business partnerships between Zambian small and medium enterprises and corporations that see the increasing value in procuring goods and services locally. Using the Programme, Java Foods has been able to strengthen its business relationship with it’s largest customer, Shoprite, by increasing sales volumes and growing the eeZee brand.
Shoprite is Zambia’s largest supermarket retailer employing 3,300 people directly and creating 1,700 indirect local jobs. Shoprite currently operates 26 stores in 9 provinces of Zambia. The Company has been operational in Zambia for over 20 years and is expected to open an additional 6 stores in 2016, bringing the total number of stores to 32 by the end of 2016 and growing. With almost 70% of total business now sourced in Zambia, Shoprite is a strong supporter of creating partnerships and linkages that support the growth of local brands and products.
